CTLA's Mission

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment supports excellence and innovation in teaching at the University of North Texas.

CTLA's mission is to:

  • Launch and support UNT's Quality Enhancement Plan.
  • Assist faculty, adjuncts, and teaching assistants/fellows with designing, creating, implementing, and evaluating innovative classroom instruction.
  • Assist new and experienced university instructors with increasing their practical and theoretical knowledge of university teaching to improve student learning.
  • Disseminate pedagogical research and practical resources based on expressed faculty needs.
  • Cooperate with and support other efforts at UNT that share this mission.

The Center offers a range of services to faculty, adjuncts, and teaching fellows/assistants to facilitate teaching and measuring learning at the class, department, and college level. CTLA supports the UNT teaching community primarily through workshops, seminars, conferences, individual consultations, and the CTLA Website. These resources focus on aligning theory and practice with the roles required of university instructors in lecture halls, seminar rooms, and labs across all disciplines.
