Edgar Meyer
In concert with the UNT Symphony Orchestra

Grammy award winning artist, Edgar Meyer, cajoles a burnished, resonant voice with his bass. In concert with the UNT Symphony Orchestra, Meyer will perform the Bottesini Concerto No. 2 and the Meyer Concerto. Although classical in nature, the concert will have the distinctive Edgar Meyer gloss – what violinist Joshua Bell calls “Edgar Music” – that has made him America’s best-known bass player.

Lee Martin, Professor/Director of Creative Writing, Ohio State University and author of historical novel Quakertown; Willie Hudspeth, Denton businessman and civil rights activist; Dallas lawyer and author, Bernestine Singley (When Race Becomes Real); and American University art faculty member and visual artist Zoë Charlton whose arresting artwork will be on display in the UNT Art Gallery, COVAD.

American Brass Quintet with Billy Childs

In their forty-seventh season, American Brass Quintet is the longest continuously performing brass quintet in North America. Their concert at UNT will feature Grammy award winning composer and pianist Billy Childs. The Quintet and Childs premiered their new original work in the summer of 2007 at the Aspen musical Festival.

Betty Buckley’s career has encompassed theater as well as television and film. In March 2007, she was inducted
into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. She won a Tony for her portrayal of Grizabella the Glamour Cat in Andrew Lloyd
Webber’s Cats. Her film credits include Carrie, Frantic, and Wyatt Earp. On the small screen, Buckley has had
recurring roles in Oz, Monk, and Eight is Enough. Throughout her illustrious
career, she has traveled the world performing and teaching scene and song
interpretation classes.
