The UNT Fine Arts Series special holiday presentation is the Trammell Group production, Sounds Like Christmas . . . Smells Like Home. This local group of seasoned performers, all of them UNT exes, are masters of the fine art of musical parody who have been celebrating the holidays together for almost twenty years with past productions such as The Eggnog Monologues, The Fa-La-La Follies, Bubble Lights . . . A Nostalgic Christmas Cabaret, and Christmas Pie . . . A Madrigal Farce & Feaste. This year the group revives their popular "Jingle Tales" family series in a salute to the best of tinsel, trees, turkey and trimmings, inviting the audience to join them for a sing-along caroling party of classic Trammell favorites.
Organized in 1988, the group's original members include lyricist and director, Donna Trammell, Denton's "favorite performer" Lindsay Keffer, and Forever Green vocalist, Kay Lamb. The madness has been set to music by talented pianist Bob Rogers since 1990, and a variety of multi-talented performers have joined in the fun along the way--all of them sharing the common UNT connection--Michael Serrecchia, Scott Andrews, Buster Maloney, John Evarts, Les Black, and Peggy Capps among others.
Sounds Like Christmas . . . Smells Like Home promises to be the ultimate season-opening, inter-active, multi-media, super-sensory dinner theater experience . . . or, at least, that's what it sounds like.
