Advertising Manager Job Description The advertising manager supervises all aspects of the newspaper's advertising and ad placement in each issue of the paper. This position is directly supervised by the managing editor and publication manager. Duties and responsibilities: -- Generate new advertising sales through direct solicitation of area businesses and campus organizations. Provide timely follow up on all advertising inquiries, and maintain availability by telephone and email to clientele and staff members. -- Follow up on all advertising inquiries in a timely manner, and keep a log of all contacts made/outcomes of those interactions. -- Manage both existing and new accounts with the same degree of professionalism. -- Work with campus organizations and departments to produce and publish ads. -- If necessary, work with customer to coordinate ad designs and copy. Deliver final ad proofs to clients for approval. Verify that all camera-ready ads have been emailed to the office prior to the advertising copy deadline. -- Maintain and post a list of all ads booked for the current and future issues, including client name, size and type of ad of ad. -- Maintain a book-keeping and billing system to track all financial transactions. -- Present a report of this activity to the publication manager on a monthly basis. -- Coordinate with the publication manager to complete billings, including statements and tear sheets, to all clients immediately after each issue is published. -- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings. -- Provide weekly updates of activity and projected ad space for each issue to the managing editor. Coordinate ad placement for each issue with the managing editor. Place all ads on page templates at the beginning of each production week. Salary This internship will pay commission + incentive.
