The Department of Rehabilitation, Social Work and Addictions at the University of North Texas invites applications for an assistant/associate professor position to begin August 2006. The ideal candidate will have a doctorate, clinical field experience in addictions/substance abuse and strong research/ publication/ extramural funding potential. Preference will be given to candidates with rehabilitation or social work experience pertinent to addictions/substance abuse. The successful applicant will teach and mentor students in a licensure-oriented addictions component and engage in cross-disciplinary teaching, research and service with social work and/or rehabilitation faculty. Administrative and communication skills suited to an interdisciplinary environment are also desirable.

University of North Texas Dallas Campus
Rank and Salary: This is a non-tenure-track position, renewable for up to five years, beginning fall 2007. Other than not participating in the University tenure award process, all other standard University of North Texas , College of Public Affairs and Community Services, and Department of Rehabilitation, Social Work, and Addictions faculty personnel rules and procedures apply to this position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Summer employment is contingent on student demand and funding.
Responsibilities : The assistant professor in Human Service Management and Leadership will teach on the UNT Dallas Campus and will be expected to teach courses primarily in the areas of Human Service Management and Leadership that lead to the awarding of the undergraduate degree. The workload of the faculty member in this position will be teaching a minimum of four courses per semester and providing faculty service to ensure growth of the Human Service Management and Leadership program at the Dallas Campus.
The annual evaluation of the assistant professor will be conducted according to the guidelines of the Department of Rehabilitation, Social Work, and Addictions. Comments and observations from the Vice Provost of the Dallas Campus will be requested as part of the annual evaluation process. While the individual is housed and provides instruction to the students at the UNT Dallas Campus, faculty activities may require the assistant professor of Human Service Management and Leadership to be on the Denton campus one or more days per month.
Requirements: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in a social science related field. Prior successful teaching experience at the university level and experience with distance learning is highly preferred. Successful experience in non-profit management or community leadership is desirable. In addition, the candidates must be willing to develop a record of service to the program, the university, and the community.
