Teaching Assistant & Teaching Fellow Orientation

Welcome to the Teaching Assistant/Teaching Fellow Orientation program home page. On behalf of the Provost Office at the University of North Texas and the Council of Deans, the Robert B. Toulouse School of Graduate Studies has designed this Orientation program to help prepare you in your role working as a Teaching Assistant or Teaching Fellow (TA/TF).

You were specifically selected by your academic program to work as a Teaching Assistant or Teaching Fellow because of the program’ s belief that you have the requisite skills and competence to assist the University’ s instructional mission. The Graduate School Orientation Program was developed to help introduce you to the University, to provide information which you can use in your instructional capacities, and to brief you about dealing with some of the challenges that may confront you in your role as a TA/TF.

We trust you will find the page as user friendly as we intend it to be. Whether you are a new TA/TF or an experienced TA/TF looking to refresh yourself regarding resources, procedures, and potentially difficult situations that you may have to handle, we want the information in the Orientation program and on the Orientation website to be useful. Do not hesitate to let us know what information you find valuable, other kinds of information you feel would be helpful to you, and any parts of the information that are not useful and informative for a TA/TF.

If you have any questions or feedback regarding the Orientation program, please feel free to contact us.

Again welcome to the University of North Texas and we look forward to your involvement and contributions as a TA or TF at the University.
